One of Hip Hop’s most recognizable artists has been cast in the upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic, and the actor stepping into the role comes from a celebrated musical family of his own. SwayvoTwain, the son of D’Angelo and Angie Stone, will portray The Notorious B.I.G. in Universal Pictures’ Snoop.
The role will mark SwayvoTwain’s first major film appearance. Born Michael D’Angelo Archer II, he has primarily worked as a recording artist and songwriter, including releasing “Ms. Angie’s Son” and “DoveSoar.” His parents were two defining voices in R&B and Soul. Sadly, Stone died at 63 in a March 2025 highway crash in Alabama, while D’Angelo died at 51 that October after a battle with cancer.
Casting Biggie also gives a little more shape to the story Snoop intends to tell. Christopher Wallace and Snoop Dogg became major figures on opposite coasts as tensions surrounding Bad Boy Records and Death Row Records intensified during the 1990s. However, their relationship was more complicated than the rivalry that came to define that period publicly. Variety notes that the two shared mutual respect, even as conflict within their respective circles grew increasingly hostile.
